Dear Robinson Community,
I hope this email finds you and your family well! As this year’s Golf Classic Chairman, I am pleased to invite you to our 4th Robinson School Scholarship Fund Golf Classic this Saturday, November 7, 2015 on the River Course at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa. Registration begins at 7:30am. The entire Robinson community comes together for this event, which has become an annual favorite that unites fun and philanthropy. I am proud to be chairing this event, and I hope you will join us to support the Scholarship Fund and the life-changing impact it has on the future of its recipients.
The Golf Classic started back in 2011. It provides full financial support to talented students who would otherwise be unable to attend Robinson School, giving them the opportunity to apply their talents and reach their goals. These students have been an amazing asset to our school and go on to achieve great things:
-Carissa Faña (Class of 1998) is currently the Senior Policy Advisor of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators in Washington, D.C. But she developed her passion for policy and government here at Robinson through her leadership in the Student Government Association and the Model UN Club.
-Karol Oviedo (Class of 2015) was supported by the Scholarship Fund for six straight years. Karol came to us in 6th grade and blossomed here at Robinson. She graduated 3rd in her class and earned the most awards in her graduating class, including the top Robinson School Award given to students who most distinguish themselves over their career at Robinson. She is now on her way to further realizing her dreams at Emory University where she was awarded another full scholarship.
-Nachaly Ortega (9th grade) is one of our current scholarship recipients. Once shy, Robinson School has cultivated her leadership qualities, transforming her into a passionate public speaker. At the beginning of this school year, she presented the “Essential Agreements” to her Middle School peers in the Chapel. As part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) authorization process, these agreements help define our students’ commitment to this expanded worldview and innovative learning model.
There are no better examples of how the Scholarship Fund can change the lives and futures of talented young people in need.
I am pleased to report that this year’s Golf Classic promises to be the most successful one yet. Last year, we raised $18,000. This year, we hope to raise twice as much. With 38 sponsors and 103 players to date, I’m confident that we’ll reach our goal. But we still need your help! Please join us in changing the lives of our scholarship students. Help them reach the success of our previous recipients and strengthen Robinson’s position among the top college-prep schools in Puerto Rico.
For more information, call 787-999-4604. You can also write to Rebecca Sumner at firstname.lastname@example.org or Anya Belaval at email@example.com for more information about how to join the fun by registering as a player, a twosome or a foursome.
If you are unable to attend or play, I encourage you or your company to become a tee sponsor. Your name and/or company logo will be placed at one of the holes on the golf course, and the promotional benefits far exceed the moderate price of $250. Use the contact information provided above for more information to join us as a sponsor.
Hope to see you on the green this Saturday for this very special event!
