AN EXCHANGE OF CULTURES
Palestinian Sukar Taha, 2nd grader Emily Taha’s mom, paid a visit to her daughter’s classroom yesterday, the first day of the five day “Eid Al Adha” Muslim celebration. “Eid Al Adha” means “celebration of sacrifice”, and it refers to the fast offered during the “Ramadan’s” 30 days of fasting, which took place two months ago. She explained how fasting, during Ramadan, is an exercise of introspection where we meditate about the value of food. It was certainly an unforgettable exchange for the kids, who were able to take a peek at how other cultures pay their respects to life and all the blessings they are fortunate to have.
