The Development and Communications offices coordinated an online Christmas Auction with the PTO. The proceeds will benefit the Robinson School Scholarship Fund and the PTO Fund.
Our Scholarship Fund allows promising children with limited family resources the benefits of a Robinson School education, while enriching their classmates and teachers as well. The PTO Fund supports Robinson’s award-winning clubs and teams, and coordinates Robinson community special events.
The Christmas Auction opened online November 20th on the BiddingForGood platform, “a charitable e-commerce company that connects fundraisers, cause-conscious shoppers, and socially responsible businesses, which makes non-profit fundraising more exciting and dynamic. The Auction included something for everyone! Great auction items at great prices for a great cause! We received wide variety of goods, services and unique experience—all from our generous Robinson community—which we were able to offer at great prices. These items included stays at upscale hotels and resorts, sports memorabilia, jewelry, professional and student artwork, electronics, tech gadgets, restaurant certificates, yoga and meditation classes for kids, pastry-making classes, Lego sets, and much more!
The Auction went live during the Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4th. The live Auction was held in our newly remodeled Cafeteria, which was splendidly decorated for the season with lights, poinsettias, and tables covered in white with a sprinkling of Christmas confetti. Two computers were set up for last-minute bidding with tables for eating and drinking. Items were displayed and projected on a screen at the front of the Cafeteria, so they were visible to all. Parents, family and friends took a break from the outdoor festivities, chatted and shopped for a good cause in the true spirit of the season: giving (and shopping)!
As the Auction closed, the bidding grew more competitive and fun! Participants competed for television sets, a ruby bracelet, a luxury villa in Vieques and new tablets at a fraction of their retail cost! Not only did our immediate community join us, people in the States who regularly check in on BiddingForGood auctions also participated. A couple from Philadelphia bid on and won a stay at El Convento Hotel for an upcoming vacation in Puerto Rico! They’re really excited, and so are we! We’re happy to help make their stay on the Island special. Hopefully, they’ll stop by Robinson to say “hello.” When the Auction closed and party ended, we had raised $8,000 for the Scholarship Fund and PTO.
We hope you received the invitations and announcements for our new Christmas traditions. If not, please contact Rebecca Sumner at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 787-999-4604, ext. 4646, to update your contact information. That way, we can keep you posted on future auctions.
