Robinson Middle School is a very special place. It is where we combine opportunities to pursue academic excellence with opportunities to become well-rounded individuals. We create a safe, nurturing environment that allows students the time and resources to expand their talents, to discover themselves and to become lifelong learners. Our faculty and administration understand the specific needs of the early teenage years and have created our Plus Factor program to ensure student success and have created a set of guidelines to help them adjust.
Our Middle School encompasses seventh and eighth grade and has approximately 100 students. Class sizes are kept below twenty-two to ensure the kind of personal connections with faculty that we believe are the cornerstones of an excellent education. Incredible exploratory programs complement our core classes. Students also participate in an advisor program overseen by carefully chosen faculty members who help them understand themselves and make sense of their world. Students participate in retreats specifically designed to increase the cohesiveness of each grade and to allow students explore their feelings, skills and talents.
We believe that Middle School students need our help to develop a strong sense of their roles and responsibilities as community members. Providing service and developing awareness of other´s needs are essential elements of our program. Therefore, we have developed special community service programs that invite our middle school students into the world beyond school. It is our mission to ensure that our students have the opportunity to feel that they have made a valuable contribution to our community, as well as a global society.
Our carefully developed curriculum is based on the latest research about children´s physical, social, emotional, linguistic and intellectual development. The Middle School offers students in seventh and eighth grades a college preparatory program with traditional curriculum, emphasizing skill development, while allowing special accommodations for students diagnosed with mild learning disabilities.
Each academic department has its own curriculum that builds critical skills where, upon completing Upper School, students will be ready to attend the college of their choice.
