Kiara Camareno Vargas ’13 began pursuing her passion for the sciences at Robinson School. By the time she graduated, she had already traveled to Arizona and been a finalist at the International Science and Engineering Fair (as well as SGA president). Currently, she is a senior in Chemical Engineering at University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez, where she is also a tutor at the English Writing Center-UPRM. Her research interests include looking for bioremediation alternatives for the food science industry that will help protect the environment.
This year, she was chosen to participate in an internship at University of Mississippi that encompasses and expands her love of science. She is involved in a research project that involves testing live farm animals under different conditions to determine their saturated fat levels. Important work that joins Kiara’s knowledge of chemical engineering with new fields in veterinary, agricultural and nutritional sciences! Congratulations, Kiara, for putting your passion into practice!
