When Lorimar graduated she quickly started working at Robinson as assistant teacher for kindergarten. She fell in love with teaching, and was the offered the position to teach full-time. “On 2016 I graduated my first kindergarten group from 13 years ago! That’s one of the things I love about this school, that I see my students grow up,” said Lorimar. In 2014 she started implementing the IB system in preschool and 2 years later, she was offered the position as IB PYP coordinator and Toddler and Preschool Supervisor.
“I loved being part of the vision that created the preschool building, I had the opportunity to say how I wanted the preschool classrooms.” The buddy program was implemented by her since 2013. She also works hard to be a support system and guide teachers to be better IB teachers. She gives them strategies to implement IB in the classrooms.
Throughout the years she has seen the school grow. “I’m proud to see how the school has changed physically, the areas have become more appropriate for inquiry based learning. We now have an amazing Toddler House. The teachers have more tools for teaching students the 21st century skills they need for growing up (like the latest technology in every classroom). I see our students much more prepared, they know how to learn. They take actions in their daily lives that show just how much IB helps them learn. Lorimar thinks that what sets the school apart from others is the compromise and the dedication that teachers have towards the school. “Teachers want every kid to triumph in their future. They teach students to take ownership of their learning.”
Lorimar has three sons, one in 3rd grade, one in 5th grade, and one in our toddler program. She works hard to balance her life (Can you imagine with 3 kids, a full time job and getting a master’s degree?). On her free time she enjoys playing board games with her family and participate in her sons’ sports.
