The passing of Robinson alumnus, Julio Toro (Class of 2001), was reported yesterday, October 8th. He passed away from complications of pneumonia.
He senior yearbook page remembers him as a young man who “found humor in anything. A practical joker at heart, Julio cared deeply about his friends and was there to lend a helping hand when they least expected it.” An outstanding athlete, playing on both the Soccer and Basketball teams. He won the Coach’s Award and All-Star Team Player in Basketball.
Athletics was a family affair. Julio Toro, his father, was the former head coach of Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), the professional men’s basketball league of Puerto Rico. Julito assisted his father in coaching the Vaqueros de Bayamón to their championship victory in 2009. He assisted his father again in 2010.
The Robinson School community would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Julio Toro for this sudden loss of such a young and vibrant man. Our sympathy and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
