Today, Scholastic officially announced the Top Schools of the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Robinson School took the title for Puerto Rico with a total of 50,056 minutes read!
The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a yearly competition based on the minutes students spend reading during the summer. Robinson Elementary students logged into their Scholastic account during the summer and were able to time their reading. All the minutes summed up to what resulted to be the highest amount of reading time amongst the island’s schools.
As an International Baccalaureate World School, the heart of our institution, is our libraries. Our students have always shown how much they love reading, but this is the first time we’ve been internationally recognized for it!
“This recognition is very special because the students themselves asked me to make sure they could access the website to log in their minutes, and so I did. They were having trouble logging in. I had to go student by student changing their passwords from my personal computer. Little did I know how rewarding it would be.”
– Patricia Vega, Robinson Elementary School Librarian
As a winning school, we will be receiving a package from Scholastic to have a big celebration which will take place next month!
