On May 18, Robinson students performed ” Annie… The Musical”, adapted and directed by our Performing Arts teacher Gloria Hicks. Set in the busy streets of downtown New York City, Annie is the story about an eleven year old girl orphan who is tired of waiting for her parents to rescue her from the cruel and bitter Miss Hannigan. Students, teachers, and staff members worked together in transforming the school gym into a performing arts space. The students gave a spectacular performance to a very enthusiastic audience as they rendered some of the musical’s all time favorites such as “Tomorrow” and “It’s a hard knock life”. The set was designed and created by our ES art teacher, Airdremaliz Ortíz.
Living the IB experience
According to the International Baccalaureate website (www.ibo.org) theater and performing arts encourage discovery through experimentation, the taking of risks and the presentation of ideas to others. It results in the development of both theater and life skills; the building of confidence, creativity and working collaboratively.
Special thanks to everyone who was a part of this wonderful production! Enjoy the photos!
