At our Upper Level Library & Learning Commons we believe in inquiry and enriching the classroom by providing unique research experiences to our students. This month of September, the Art class and the library will be working together on an exhibition on Medieval Christian and Islamic illuminations as part of the Intellectual Freedom Awareness campaign for Banned Book Week.
Yesterday, September 1st, a selected group of 8th graders went to La Casa del Libro with the librarian to learn more about how books were made in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. They had the opportunity to see rare, authentic 1400s-1800s books, see the instruments used to bind manuscripts and ask experts about the printing process. This group of inquirers will be preparing a presentation to share with their classmates.
Look forward to the exhibition on Banned Book Week!
