As parents we worry about what are we allowing our kids to read, watch and play. Common Sense Media.com is a non-profit organization that provides reviews on books, video games, movies and the likes. It gives reviews and ratings from the parent point of view as well as the child’s point of view. This site is not about censorship but about informing parents and educators about the content of these resources so that parents can make an informed decision on whether to allow their child or teen to view, read or play certain resource or not.
Visit the site with your child/teen and look at the reviews of the title of interest. Use this moment to explain to him/her your set of criteria so he/she can understand the reasons behind your decision. This way they can go through the exercise of evaluating resources and making informed decisions, not just for entertainment purposes but also academic.
