Once again our Young Thespians Troupe gives us a night to remember! Months of hard work and dedication payed off on the night of April 13 when our Young Thespians presented In the Heights, a spirited musical about chasing dreams and finding your true home. The show called for a set that included the facades of four buildings fantastically rendered by our very own ES art teacher Airdremaliz Ortiz, and who could forget Alejandro Dávila’s “Abuela Claudia” which decorated the door of the Usnavi store?!
Students, family and friends were delighted with our YTT’s outstanding performance and the Emilio S. Belaval theater at Sagrado Corazón was filled with collective joy. Join us in congratulating our YTT and their teacher Karla Marcano. We can’t wait for your next musical!
A message from drama teacher Karla Marcano:
The Young Thespians Troupe and their director would like to thank those who have made this production possible:
We are grateful for the support of Enrique Ramal, Ismael Alicea, José Ríos, Maribel Ríos-Thurman and Anya Belaval. There are some people who have given more than a director could hope for. Without Sharim Santiago, Edwin Torres, Emmanuel Bonilla, Eloisa González, Elizabeth Barreto (Titi), Airdremaliz Ortiz, Elaine Bonilla and Viviane Fournier this production would not have been
possible. Special thanks to Dueñas Trailers, Food Design, Yes Media and the Robinson School PTO. The support that I felt through these months kept me
standing. Thanks to you, I was able to carry on.
I’m very grateful for the support that Robinson School’s administration gave us. Cindy Ogg, Luis Fortes, Enid Camacho, Jannette Santiago, Glorybell Vega and Lourdes Sepúlveda were always there to offer assistance, and to smooth the process for us. Special thanks to Susana Vega, Daniel Vega, Shelly Cruz, Nelson Román, Diamar Hernández, Damaris Cortés, Lissette Lugo, Anabel Rivera, Rosa Meléndez. Thank you, parents, for allowing your children to embark on this adventure. Thank you for letting them explore the theatre arts. Thank you, Sonia Rivera, for the beautiful flyer you designed, and for the signs. A huge thank you to my family (Miguelángel and Iván Lugo Marcano, Miranda Merced), for your patience and support during all those late nights waiting for me.
To my Young Thespians: You were right. Thank you for insisting on a musical. Thank you for being brave. Thank you for your persistence and drive. Thank you for teaching me with your actions. I hope that you will carry this experience with you forever.
A very special thank you to Alejandro Dávila who created the “Abuela Claudia” design on the Usnavi store door!
