This Monday Middle School celebrated the different mother languages of our students and teachers by conducting the assembly in five different languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Mandarin. Mr. Cortés read a few words as an opening for Spanish Week and our students proceeded to explain why we celebrate International Mother Tongue Day. Then they read Unamuno’s poem “La Sangre de mi espíritu” in Spanish and French.
The assembly ended with a language trivia where the audience had to guess in what language the sentence displayed on the screen was. Students enjoyed this activity as they remembered the importance of learning different languages and recognizing them.
