Last year, as part of the PYP Exhibition Project, a group of students researched the effects of plastic on the environment. This sparked their curiosity to investigate the amount of garbage and plastic our school community generates. They presented the results to the Head of School and Members of the Board and proposed new initiatives to strengthen our green efforts.
As part of our commitment to becoming a green school, the cafeteria staff gave our students a conference about the changes being implemented to support this initiative, which complements our educational efforts. Some of the topics discussed were:
- Disposable utensils and plates are being replaced with reusable alternatives
- Biodegradable containers and how to dispose of them
- An introduction to the new food scrap recycling system
- The use of recycling bins
It’s exciting to see our student’s research in action!
A special thank you to Quality Foods and TAIS PR for joining in our effort to becoming a green school.
